Residential Care Services
Carer training on night time positioning for pressure & postural management needs - 1hr session:
Seating To Go provide training workshops for therapists about night time positioning for postural and pressure management. We have adapted the 2 day credentialing workshop into a one hour session aimed at carers and nursing staff in residential care and hospitals. The objective is to improve their understanding of how positioning can impact on the development of contractures and postural issues, and pressure injuries. We explain low tech solutions and provide case study experiences to demonstrate concepts.
Carer training session on moving people safely in wheelchairs - 1 1/2 hr session:
It is not uncommon for people in wheelchairs living in residential care, to be assisted with their mobility. In a 2003 study of wheelchair related injuries in the USA, 94% of accidents for people over 65, happened at home or in institutions. 80% were tips or falls. Unless a carer is shown how to move a person safely in a wheelchair, the risk of tipping the person forwards out of the wheelchair, especially when out in the community, is increased. This practical session is led by one of our wheelchair skills mentors and a therapist.
Servicing and repairs of disability equipment:
Equipment owned by residential care facilities are an important asset to services and need to be safe and functional to ensure that staff and the people you care for are not exposed to unnecessary risk. Let us take the worry around compliance and health and safety away from you. In addition to providing repairs for all your disability equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, patient lifts and commodes, Seating To Go provides an asset management service with technicians able to provide scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing programmes that will meet the requirements of the following standards:
