Wheelchair Skills Training
“The guys gently pushed you out of your comfort zone by showing you how to do things and trying different ways of doing the same thing. I would never have tried the things I can now do without the support of the group.”
Seating To Go offers wheelchair skills training in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Lakes areas.
Led by experienced wheelchair users, the sessions offer a fun and supportive environment to learn and develop new skills and techniques, supporting children and adults to become more confident and proficient using their manual and power wheelchairs.
Our mentors provide a fun and stimulating environment, and we have technicians and therapists on-hand to make any necessary adjustments.
Due to funding from the Ministry of Health (MOH), and ACC funding via the Gains@Geneva Training for Independence contract, this service is accessible to all MOH and ACC clients.
If you are interested in attending or you would like to find out more information, please complete the expression of interest form or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
These sessions are based on the Wheelchair Skills Programme developed by the Wheelchair Research team at Dalhousie University, Canada.
